Eutierria

Eutierria means to become one with nature. This project had been floating around my mind for a year or so before I knew how to bring it to life. The video is a promo for the exhibition we had at the university degree show. The project was centred around ideas of reconnecting with nature through an exploration of contemporary and traditional research around our relationship with the natural world and the connections that happen within nature itself.

Holes

This abstract short was an exploration of place using visuals and audio. I suggested we shot these holes for the location instead of the traditional understanding of a location. I think our interrogative exploration of the space led us to understand what we wanted from the piece and to shoot in ways we thought might work as well as conventional methods. We gave the piece its feeling through the distortion of the audio we collected and the layering of different visuals.

19 Billion

A poetic documentary about the treatment of chickens in the modern world. I directed and story boarded this film. Our aim was to create a film that reflected the reality of the lives of these birds but also there beauty. Chickens are often seen as less intelligent and less affectionate and we discovered this truly isn't the case; these animals are able to give so much to us and to each other and they deserve more respect. We have so many things in common with other living beings and hopefully we can wake up to what it is we are doing to these wonderful creatures and others like them.

X-rays

I was exploring the human condition and form within this project. Within the research for this project I filmed people dancing, moving, talking, I also made automatic drawings and did automatic writing. I visited the Radiology department in my local Hospital and was given a few old X-rays with which I made a collection of images of which these are two of. I would like to animate the patterned images in the near future, to give a kaleidoscope look to them.  I would feel as though I am also revisiting this subject as the human state is the most interesting and relevant thing to me.

Blood Graph

This was part of my exploration of the body. Over a period of a couple of months I collected my blood every few days to create a self-portrait using a physical part of me.

Sculptural Installation

I created an installation using a wooden palette and window weights to mimic a babies mobile. Here, suggesting that as we grow older we let life's pressures grow until the image of ourselves is distorted.

Bird Watching

For part of a project exploring place I decided to focus my efforts on making observational pieces of filmmaking. Here is a short clip of some birds. I believe that I could use this type of film for an installation, and mapping 3D mapping. Here I tried to create a still moment in life. On my youtube channel there are other examples of observational pieces.

Cinema and bus installation

For my final piece on my Art Foundation Year I created two interactive installations. One a cinema and one a bus journey. (The photography of the installation is poor, I should have a video of people in them). This was the first time I experimented with installation like this. I borrowed a real bus and cinema seat and used audio and visual projects, as well as finding the appropriate flooring for each piece and also tried to recreate the smell of each place.

Kidnapped

We made a slap stick comedy about a kidnapping gone wrong. I was heavily involved in the script writing process and designed the over all look and film of the film.
